Membership Overview
The North Carolina Association of Health Plans (NCAHP) is a nonprofit trade association of health services companies dedicated to providing value in health care benefits to over five million North Carolinians.
Reasons to Join NCAHP
The North Carolina Association of Health Plans:
Promotes the accessibility of health plans for all North Carolinians,
Advocates for appropriate, responsible public policy,
Educates various constituencies about the accessibility of health care in general and the role and value of health care plans,
Provides a forum for various health care plan constituencies to improve plans through sharing ideas and information,
Provides the opportunity to interact with major health plans operating in North Carolina,
Assists in setting the agenda and driving the messages of the health plan industry in the state,
Represents industry interests before the legislature, state administrative and regulatory bodies,
Improves business and customer services and knowledge through innovative meetings and educational programs, and
Improves access to health care and shapes the future of health care.
Membership Levels
There are currently two levels of membership within NCAHP, Full Members and Associate Members.
Full Members Benefits:
Seat on NCAHP’s Board of Directors, establishing, promoting and articulating industry policies and positions.
Participation in NCAHP standing committees:
o Legislative Committee - represents the health plan industry in lobbying, legislative testimony, coalition building and grassroots efforts to impact health care legislation.
o Regulatory Committee – provides a forum for discussions on quality issues, clinical concerns and legislative interpretation.
Member access through NCAHP’s website at www.ncahp.org.
Participation in NCAHP aggregate data submissions to the NC Department of Insurance, protecting proprietary company data.
Associate Member Benefits:
Attendance at Board Meetings.
Periodic updates on North Carolina legislative and regulatory activity.
